She's afraid to lose her famous beauty and power, and consequently, her freedom. From a young age her guardians allowed her an unconventional amount of privileges. They even humored her brief flirtations with swordplay, until she found the activity too difficult and sweaty. -----After being married off to that loathsome oaf Richard, her world of potentials and safety shattered. Ever after, she has harbored bitterness and a large share of sorrow. She hates her late husband, Richard Baratheon -- she may or may not have murdered him -- and she believes he was abusive (did you know he was sometimes a mean drunk?), foolish, disgusting, and all around stifling. -----In some bizarre contradiction, she loves her children, but still is too wild and self-centered to get any awards in motherhood. Besides, understanding the viciousness of intrigue, she hopes to avoid entangling them in the messy transition of rule from Baratheon to Lannister by distancing herself from them. Securing her family's power is her great endeavor; although she might have some residual distrust towards her father for sending her to King's Landing, to a greater extent she wants to prove herself. (and so,) -----Ceires will mainly be in King's Landing, preening and doing queen things. She is always ready to play the villain if it benefits her, and sometimes she plays the villain just because she feels particularly moody (any other beautiful lady in King's Landing is always a potential target for her destructive jealousy). If you need someone to be mean to your character, Ceires is probably your woman. -----On the other hand, she adores attention, loves to spite Richard's memory, and is fairly indulgent in general. As a result, there's almost no end to the amount of affairs she can get up to in the past, present, and future. Currently, she's not involved in any incest (that will depend on whoever plays her brother) and her first son, the current king, is Richard's legitimate heir. The legitimacy of the rest of her children is, of course, up to whoever feels like making their character a secret father or whoever plays her younger two children. -----She doesn't have many friends, but if you're interested, your character will either probably need history with Ceires or some tough skin and patience, because she's capricious like that. Regarding family, Lannisters are always welcome to meet with Ceires in King's Landing if they want a court position via nepotism or just want to give Ceires a piece of their mind. She's loyal to her family but that doesn't mean she hasn't been a jerk to her relatives or thought they were stupid at one point. |
