Born 3rd and the only girl of the brood Alyns future seemed much like that of any highborn girl of the time. She would be married off for political gain or wealth. This held true until the first rebellion where her older brothers Rory and Dion where killed leaving only herself and her younger brother alive, but even her little brother was taken away to the north to become a ward of the Starks leaving only her in Pyke. Being the only child left to her father Alyn's world changed over night. Dolls became swords, stories of knights and damsels became books of strategy.

Alyn didn't mind her new life in fact she embraced it, being of small stature she was never much of a fighter however she had a mind for strategy and a commanding presence even as a young girl. By the time she was 14 she was given the black wind to captain at first the crew sneered behind her back but she proved to be more than apt for the job of captain and soon had the respect of her men. She became her fathers right hand taking up responsibilities that should've gone to the eldest son and proving herself time and time again. Soon she had earned herself a nickname the Kraken's Daughter.
