Ah, the Tales of Ice and Fire. So how did it all begin again?
Three hundred years ago, Aegis the Dragonborn landed on the eastern shores of Westeros, seeking to conquer the Seven Kingdoms. No army had ever succeeded in uniting Westeros, but Aegis had with him three mighty dragons, Rhogar, Daegon, and Vaefegor, which swept the Seven Kingdoms with fire and blood. From then on, Westeros was finally united under one rule. He raised the great city, King's Landing, and ruled from the Iron Throne.
Fifteen years ago, House Targaryen's rule over the Seven Kingdoms was usurped by Richard Baratheon, Lord of the Stormlands. Their power waning, House Targaryen's rule had been shaky ever since the last dragon died a hundred years ago. To make matters worst, King Aemon Targaryen had gone mad with power, forcing several lords to rebel against him. Richard acquired the aid of House Stark, House Tully, and House Arryn as they set forth to dethrone the Mad King and his allies, House Tyrell and House Martell. After a long and bloody campaign, Richard Baratheon finally won the Iron Throne, ousting House Targaryen into exile, with only a few remaining.
He soon found out that he was not ready to rule the Seven Kingdoms. As the years pass, he succumbed to a gluttonous lifestyle that lost him many friends and allies, leaving him with more enemies than he can handle.
Now, Richard Baratheon has mysteriously passed away and his Seven Kingdoms are in disarray. His wife, the Queen Regent of House Lannister has taken over ruling the realm until their son come of age. After her husband's death, the queen solidified House Lannister's place as the ruling family of Westeros, although House Baratheon feels cheated in the change of power. Richard's younger brothers returned to the Stormlands, vowing to return to settle the rulership once and for all.
In the North, House Stark must deal with the lurking threat that is said to come from the icy region beyond the Wall. Wildlings and more, they say. A threat so terrifying and powerful that it has the North restless. Not only that, but House Stark can no longer trust House Lannister. Thus they are beginning to move to secede from the Iron Throne's rule. The Riverlands, bound by a powerful marriage between House Stark and House Tully, also mean to join the proposed King in the North.
The Westerlands move their armies to strengthen their hold over the Crown Lands.
The Iron Islands' fleet of longships set sail for the shores of Westeros. For centuries, they were stripped of their power. They have claimed to take up the Old Way again, which was once thought of to be dead. What is dead may never die, after all.
Highgarden seeks to advance their position in the game of thrones by patiently waiting for the opportune to strike. Like their word implies, they do not plan to roll over and be the losers in this game. They plan to grow stronger and stronger.
House Martell from Dorne has been stirring up talks of seceding as well, unwilling to bend the knee to a throne being ruled by the Lannisters. During the War of the Usurper, House Lannister committed heinous crimes against House Martell and they have not forgotten... or forgiven either.
And where has the exiled House Targaryen been all of this time?
As the great houses of Westeros struggle for power, those who get caught up in it are thrown into the cruel game of thrones .
These are the Tales of Ice and Fire... but how will the story end?
